So China is staking a stand against porn! Google has acknowledged that the Chinese government asked it to disable a search feature with the goal of censoring pornography. I’m not 100% sure if I think this is good or bad. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right of man but with the Internet becoming more and more devious each day I’m not so sure that cleaning it up a bit isn’t such a bad idea.
I wonder if the those who developed social media outlets like Twitter ever through that their services would be used to let the world know about a revolution. With the out crying of countless people in Iran it’s amazing to see that the Internet outlets are the only viable resources of information seeing that the leaders of the country have done their best to sensor the news. This is prof that we are beyond boarders now and that no information can be kept from us! This is truly the information age!
With the demand for the iPhone 3Gs AT&T has recognized growing grumbles about the upgrade pricing. It seems as though customer’s close to reaching their qualifying status were not getting the best prices. Well they will now get the best pricing if the are currently within 3 months of their contract date. This will be a huge win for AT&T since there is nothing out right now to directly complete with the iPhone. Until the G2 comes out, this is it!
Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple had a liver transplant and from the sounds of it, he’s looking to come back at the end of June. This is great news for Apple as Steve jobs has been the driving force behind the wonderful products that Apple has put out over the years. I know when I heard he was sick I thought twice about buying another Mac.
so, who got the new iPhone 3GS? I’m just wondering if this one is really worth the upgrade. Several new applications but seriously? The iPhone 2 just came about several months back? It makes me wonder if Apple thinks their phones only have a life span of about 5 months because the technology hasn’t gotten so much better that it warrants a new phone.
Here’s the trailer! Yes, the new GI Joe movie is finally on it’s way. Any true geek cannot deny their love for GI Joe. This movie will outshine the new Transformers movie 10 fold. If you are not a GI Joe fan you cannot say you are a true geek!
Lawsuits over fake tweets have prompted the leadership team was Twitter to roll out new “verified accounts” to ensure that unsuspecting “tweeties” will be getting tweets from the famous people they just can’t live without! This has always been an issue on MySpace and other peer sites but at least Twitter is ddoing something about it. I personally think law suits are a bit stupid but it’s cool to see one of these peer sites actually going something to improve their service.
Okay, sometimes we need to learn how to accept who we are and learn to make fun of outselves and my guess is, that’s what the owner of Geek of the day has done. Surely only a geek would put up such a page. If you have learned to accept who you are and you embrace your inner geek then check out the website. I’ sure you’ll get a huge kick out of it!
Anyone remember Palm One? They seemed to die out after Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Google G1, iPhone and The Sidekick took over the market. Palm One lost just about all of it’s market share. However, that might change with the Palm Pre. It seems to be a cross between the iPhone and the Google G1 and will surely turn heads for those customers looking for something different. With Windows Mobile and HTC losing market share recently it looks like a good time for a new competitor to show up on the market to take their place!
With his historic speech just a day away President Obama is planning to use Internet to reach Muslims by using social networking sites popular in Muslim countries. It’s yet to be seen how the White House’s new approach to delivering their message will impact world relations but it’s a clear indication on where we are going as a society. More and more we are using the Internet to speak to other cultures with very different beliefs. Obviously all other forms of communication have failed over the centuries so maybe this one will work!
