A $10.00 laptop?

Yes, you’ve heard it correctly, the Indian government plans to start selling the “Sakshat” which is a computer that they think they can build for $10.00. many (including myself) are very skeptical of this but apparently they are doing this for the “one laptop per child” foundation that wants to make sure every child in the world has a laptop to help educate them. While the meaning behind the idea of a $10.00 laptop is noble, it will surely be of lower quality and will be unable to compete with even the most modest of machines. Also, many children in the world lack the basic skills like reading to even use a laptop. Millions of kids lack the electricity or batteries needed to power one. My guess is, ask these kids if they would like a computer or food and see what they say…
